A day of out of townish adventure

We had a long car trip with the doggo today, basically going in a crazy loop west, then north, then east, then more north, then back southeast, then home. Some sunshine and waterfront coziness, and a little inevitable drama caused by lots of time in an enclosed space, but an overall good time.

We’ve been to a little popular burger stand in Bancroft twice now, and it’s been solid both times, even with the vast quantities of people zooming in and out. The amount of motorhomes and police on the roads pulling folks over was pretty epic, but I guess that is to be expected on a holiday weekend.

It was a particularly naughty day food wise – though we did make our own thin crust pizza that was pretty awesome, we finished off the day with ice cream and strategic tidying.

Amy’s now working off some of her dessert treat with some Beachbody, which I’m very proud of her for.

Roast beast and Walmart trip on Labour-day-eve

The missus and I had an expensive but necessary trip to Walmart – not the local one mind you, we went all the way to Cobourg for the adventure of it. It was rainy and messy, but we had fun, and got some new shirts, some much needed, extra-light shoes, and some semi-local wild blueberries.

We also had a roast beef with taters for dinner, all home cooked goodness. Even the critters got little bits of meat, as they demanded.

The long weekend begins + sushi

I discovered sushi tonight – nothing fancy, just some stuff from Metro as provided by the missus, but it was pretty great. I’ve had it before a couple of times, oddly enough at Chinese food restaurants, but it only recently clicked with my tastebuds, possibly because I just ate it on its own without the aid of the fake wasabi or extras.

It’s Labour day weekend as well, so bonus there. Not sure what we’re up to, but I suspect lots of relaxing and sitting on my bum.

Punky’s Second Childhood

As sad as it is for me to be aware of, my dear little Punky the calico monster cat is pretty ancient at 17. She’s basically falling apart right now, not really able to keep weight on, though she is ravenous for food – even though the bulk of her weight loss actually happened last year.

The positive bit of her significant weight loss has been a return to form of sorts – she has resumed her kitten behaviour of basically breaking every rule, and some plates along with it. She’s jumping up on counters like crazy, licking all the delicious things she finds, knocking bread on the ground for the dog to gobble up. I know she’s probably not long for this earth, but she sure is making her mark on the world, as she has on my heart for so long.

I bet she’s on the counter right now.

Whirlwind camping trip to Ferris Provincial Park

This past weekend we enjoyed some time away from the grind at Ferris Provincial Park in Campbellford Ontario. It’s a wee little park with some lovely, leg-working trails that go all over.

Our last couple of camping trips have ended on less fun notes, but we managed to go the whole weekend without family tragedy or bickering, so kudos to us, and to Brocky who had loads of fun too.
